Senior technical and strategic leader with 25+ years’ experience spanning upstream geoscience, asset management, programme delivery, ESG strategy and emissions advisory. My background combines deep subsurface and project experience with environment, climate and nature risk integration, carbon accounting, decommissioning and strategic transition planning. Director & Principal Consultant – Constable Energy Consulting, Cambridge

 

July 2020 – present

 

Independent consultant supporting energy, mining and infrastructure clients on complex technical, strategic and environmental challenges, with particular strengths in programme delivery, strategic risk, subsurface uncertainty and asset lifecycle decision-making.

  • Led technical and strategic work across subsurface risk, CCS, geothermal, energy transition and integrated environment, climate and nature risk for asset-intensive sectors.

  • Adapted and extended subsurface risking methodologies from oil and gas to long-term CO2 storage project risk assessment.

  • Extended quantitative risking workflows to other conventional and transition energy projects.

  • Assessed global nickel supply chain from mines to battery manufacturers supporting low-carbon mining technology start-up.

  • Developed workflows and tools for wind site screening and selection, and reviewed technologies for low-carbon energy applications.

  • Provided technically grounded support where environmental, operational and strategic risks intersect and require clear decision-making.

Provide strategic advisory support to executive teams and boards in energy and mining, helping them integrate environment, climate and broader ESG considerations into governance, risk, capital decision-making and long-term business planning.

  • Design and implement ESG, climate and environment strategies, including integration into governance, risk and capital decision-making.

  • Lead greenhouse gas inventories and forecasting across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, and develop decarbonisation and net zero roadmaps; ISO 14064-1 and -2 qualified.

Geoscience Manager – Delonex Energy, London

November 2018 – July 2020

Responsible for planning, resourcing, execution and quality assurance of exploration geoscience projects across all company assets, reporting directly to the CEO and liaising directly with the Board.

  • Managed a team of approximately 12 technical staff and contractors across multiple asset workstreams.

  • Led geoscience contribution to an accelerated exploration programme in Chad, delivering more than 3,500 km2 of 3D seismic and six exploration wells in 2.5 years with a 67% technical success rate, versus a global average of around 35%.

  • Developed and managed an exploration portfolio of more than 350 prospects and leads representing over 1 billion BOE risked prospective resources.

  • Integrated new data, drilling results and risking to support ongoing portfolio decisions.

  • Balanced technical, operational, financial and strategic considerations to maintain programme pace and quality.

 

 

Asset Manager – Delonex Energy, London

 

February 2018 – November 2018

 

Asset Manager for exploration assets in Kenya and Ethiopia, reporting directly to the CEO.

  • Managed safe execution of a 10 million US dollar onshore seismic acquisition project in Kenya involving more than 370 personnel.

  • Achieved zero Lost Time Incidents while meeting time, budget, community and environmental commitments.

  • Led engagement with governments, joint venture partners, farm-in partners, contractors, consultants and the Board.

  • Oversaw work at the interface of technical delivery, stakeholder management, operational execution and governance.

 

 

Principal Geologist, New Ventures – Delonex Energy, London

 

February 2015 – January 2018

Led rapid technical and commercial evaluation of new ventures across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, working in multidisciplinary teams.

  • New ventures evaluations of opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, India and Bangladesh, screening >100 opportunities over 3 years.

  • Delivered basin and country-scale geoscience projects to support licensing rounds and direct negotiations.

  • Supported commercially important decisions through integrated technical and strategic evaluation.

 

 

Senior Geologist (Exploration) – OMV AG, Vienna

 

May 2012 – December 2014

  • Conducted regional basin prospectivity reviews in Africa and the Middle East and contributed to asset peer reviews and farm‑in evaluations.

  • Developed and rolled out internal guidelines for regional play evaluation and risk mapping, improving consistency in portfolio risk assessment across the company.

  • Supported two new‑country entries in Sub‑Saharan Africa.

 

 

Senior Exploration Geologist – OMV New Zealand, Wellington

 

February 2006 – May 2012

  • Led and contributed to exploration work programmes in operated and non‑operated permits in the Taranaki and Great South Basins and beyond.

  • Developed a new sequence stratigraphic scheme for the Great South Basin, integrated with basin modelling and seismic facies mapping, which helped identify new play concepts and refine existing rift plays.
